Wedding Thank You Card Wording
A wedding thank you card or note will show your acknowledgment and appreciation for your guests' attendance and/or gifts. Wedding thank yous should be handwritten and not printed out.
How Long
Traditional etiquette has called for wedding thank yous to be sent out within a year, but most people will expect a thank you within 2-3 months. If your thank you is sent out later than a few months, apologize for the lateness in your wedding thank you e.g. "Sorry for the lateness"
Include Everyone
Be sure to send out a thank you to everyone who attended your wedding or sent you a gift (even to those that didn't send a gift, it's not uncommon for people to forget to give a wedding gift, and receiving a thank you card can be a gentle reminder). Don't forget to include the names of plus ones, and children on your thank you cards.
Be Specific
Writing specific details about the gift that was given to you by each guest can help to add a personal touch to your thank yous. You can also write a line about any specific details that you remember about your guest at your wedding (e.g. For traveling a long distance, for a special toast, or for being the first one on the dance floor...)
Don't Mention Specific ($) Amounts
If a guest gave you money, don't mention the amount e.g. "Thank you so much for your generous gift of $300." You can just thank them without mentioning the amount, but you can tell them what you'll use it for or how much it means to you e.g. "Thank you so much for your generous gift. It means so much to us, we'll be using to help pay for our honeymoon."
